Mr. Rothbart serves as day-to-day manager over Fund activities, is primarily responsible for the identification of Fund investment opportunities, asset management of fund acquisitions and serves as liaison to the Fund's legal, accounting, securities, insurance and financial advisors. In addition to his role as a Principal of Boulder Net Lease Funds, Mr. Rothbart has been General Counsel and Research Director of The Boulder Group since 2003. Prior to joining The Boulder Group, Mr. Rothbart practiced real estate and tax law at the Chicago-based law firm of Field & Goldberg, LLC. Additionally, Mr. Rothbart worked in the legal department of Related Midwest (formerly LR Development Company, LLC), one of Chicago's largest residential real estate developers. Related Midwest is an affiliate of The Related Companies, a New York based real estate developer.
Mr. Rothbart has authored over twenty-five articles on the net leased real estate industry. Portions of those articles have been published in numerous real estate publications including The Korpacz Real Estate Investor Survey published by PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Retail Traffic, Net Lease Forum, Globe Street, Commercial Property News, National Real Estate Investor, Mortgage and Real Estate Executives Report as well as several other local real estate publications. Mr. Rothbart has also served as an expert witness on the net lease market, lectured on 1031 like-kind exchange transactions, is an Adjunct Professor of Law at IIT Chicago Kent College of Law and was named by Real Estate Forum as one of the “Next Generation Newsmakers 35 and Under.”
Mr. Rothbart, an Illinois licensed attorney, received a Masters of Law in Taxation from Northwestern University (including coursework at the Kellogg School of Management), a Juris Doctor from IIT Chicago Kent College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Emory University. Mr. Rothbart is also an NASD registered representative, holding Series 22 and 63 licenses. Mr. Rothbart is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association, Association of Corporate Growth and the Urban Land Institute.
